Silver Jewellery Care Guide

A little regular care helps silver jewellery keep its finish. Always follow the instructions supplied with your individual piece.

Everyday care

  • Put jewellery on after applying perfume, cosmetics and lotions.
  • Remove it before swimming, showering, exercising or using cleaning products.
  • Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth after wear.
  • Store pieces separately in a dry pouch or jewellery box to reduce scratches and exposure to moisture.

Cleaning polished silver

Use a silver polishing cloth suitable for your piece. Avoid abrasive cleaners and household chemical mixtures. If a piece has stones, plating, enamel or glued components, check its specific care instructions before using any liquid cleaner.

Oxidised silver needs different care

The dark finish is part of the design. Silver dips and aggressive polishing can remove it. Use a soft dry cloth and avoid polishing the deliberately dark areas.

Does silver tarnish?

Silver can darken over time through exposure to air, moisture and other substances. Tarnish alone does not establish a piece’s silver purity.
